Presentation of new feature to leadership
Approach
Step 1 - Defined problem and goal
-
The Student Wellness department at UF needed a new product to give students a place to find resources and aid for mental health and wellness post-covid
-
The students also needed a way to make appointments with the wellness center instead of just calling the office on the phone

It was determined that we would build a new app for the students
Step 2 - Interviewed users and staff & create personas
-
Lead interviews of students and faculty from the wellness center to determine the most common users of this app.
Shown below: 5 personas that I created

Step 3 - Mapped out user journeys
Using the personas created and the feedback from interviews, I mapped out the most likely journeys for each user

Step 4 - Determine information architecture
We partnered with the Wellness staff to run a card-sorting exercise. We used both open and closed sorting techniques to determine what would make sense to the students. We used this to determine our menu system for the app.
Shown below is an image of the card sort activity with students

Step 5 - Determine user flow and interactions
Using Adobe XD, the user flow was mapped out with an interactive prototype myself and the junior designer. (I do not have an image of this.)
Step 6 - Begin visual design
Shown below is one of the first iterations of the design look and feel

Solution
Step 7 - Visual design hi-fidelity mockups and interactive prototype
Shown below are my high-fidelity designs for the app

Shown above: A view of the interactive prototype

Step 8 - Test visual designs with users
We reviewed the interactive prototype with 8 students using a focus group. This was to determine if the look and feel appealed to them and was relatable.
Step 9 - Documentation & design library
A design and documentation library was created by me, so that the developers could begin work on the app
Shown below is the design library I created
